The pizza accessory is made from durable stainless steel and is very sturdy, weighing in at just over 2kg (SS2 tandoor kit) or 1.2 kg (SS1 tandoor kit).  It is very easy to use and can cook your favourite pizza in only 5-7 minutes (see recipe details below).  Simply preheat your tandoor to a moderate temperature for 30-40 minutes.  While your tandoor is heating up, make your favourite pizza on the pizza plates provided.  You may wish to purchase a few more pizza plates so you can prepare more pizza in advance.  When the tandoor has reached cooking temperature, simply place the pizza plate on the base tray of the pizza accessory and lower it into the tandoor (i.e. the pizza lowers into and cooks inside the tandoor).

Your pizza should be cooked in about 5-7 minutes depending on the toppings used.  If your pizza is taking too long to cook, or you are not getting a crispy base and those delicious charred edges, you will just need to increase the temperature in the tandoor.  In that case, try open the vent door a little further and/or use a bit more charcoal or heat beads.

When your first pizza is cooked, replace it with another prepared pizza and by the time you have plated up the first pizza and cut it into portions your next pizza will almost be cooked!

For best results we recommend using charcoal.

We provide a great pizza dough recipe below and have found that a 180g dough ball works really well with the 9 inch pizza plate to give a medium crust thickness.

Pizza dough recipe

Ingredients:

10g dried yeast

25g caster sugar

1.5 teaspoon salt

280ml  lukewarm water

1 tablespoon olive oil

425g bakers grade plain flour (do not use standard plain flour)

Method:

Combine yeast, sugar, salt and water into a small container and mix well.  Add oil and mix again.  Set aside for about 5-10 minutes until a froth begins to form on the liquid surface.  If the froth does not appear, the yeast used is most likely inactive - buy some new yeast and try again.

For hand kneading, transfer the liquid to a large bowl, add the flour and bring the mixture together with your hand to form a combined mass.  Turn this mixture out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic (approximately 10 minutes).  Place the resulting dough into a light oil bowl, cover and stand in a warm place for about 40 minutes or until the dough has doubled in size.  Punch down the dough and divide into 180g balls to use with the 9 inch pizza plates.  Lightly oil the pizza plate and optionally lightly dust with fine semolina powder.  Press/roll out the dough to fit the plate and add your favourite toppings.  Place the pizza plate on the base of the pizza accessory and lower the pizza into the tandoor to cook (typically 5-7 minutes depending on the toppings).

For bread machines, transfer the liquid to the mixing bowl first and then add the flour.  Set the the bread machine to the dough setting and press start.  When the cycle has finished, divide the dough into 180g balls to use with the 9 inch pizza plates.

Your pizza should be cooked in about 5-7 minutes depending on the pizza topping used.  If your pizza is taking too long to cook, or you are not getting a crispy base and those delicious charred edges, you will just need to increase the temperature in the tandoor.  In that case, try open the vent door a little further and/or use a bit more charcoal or heat beads.

Make several pizzas in advance so that you can keep them cooking one after the other.
